Pedal for Haiti

Hi Friends! Well, I am about to start an adventure of monumental proportions. Our Church Pastor and a board member (Monty and Dave) are embarking on a cross-country bike ride. The purpose of the trip is to raise money to provide aid to the kids and adults suffering in Haiti. When I became aware that they had no "support" vehicle going with them, I (with Bonnie's support) volunteered for that position, which was gladly accepted. So I will follow along in my trusty pickup to carry the luggage, spare tires and tubes, first aid items, refreshments, provide transportation (i.e. to Church Sundays or to host homes, etc.) and to lend aid should that become necessary.

The trip, officially known as "Pedal for Haiti", has actually already begun. Monty and Dave (and a short term rider, Bruce, went to La Jolla, CA to dip their toes in the Pacific ocean and start the first leg of the trip (to Julian, CA) on Monday, September 27th. They had a support vehicle already arranged for the first week of their ride, which will end in Eloy, AZ on Friday. That's about half way between Phoenix and Tucson. After a weekend of rest, and Monty preaching on Sunday, I will transport them back to Eloy and we all will begin the long trek to the Atlantic ocean, at Jekyll Island, GA. Weather and health permitting, we should arrive there on November 3rd.

It is my intent to blog updates almost daily for those of you that are interested. If you are inclined to pray, we could sure use it. God bless.
